For some reason, my fresh Ubuntu install didn't include all the NFS bits... had to do this:

apt-get install nfs-common portmap **

* /etc/init.d/portmap restart *

* /etc/init.d/nfs-common restart *

and then I was able to:

mount 192.168.0.50:/myshare /mnt/myshare **
